Wildland Fire / Hazmat Management Assets

Kodiak is a diversified man power group. We have a group of 120 trained HAZWOPER technicians, Incident clean up level, personnel ready to go to work. In that group there is individuals trained in; demolition, deconstruction/construction, landscaping, farming, Cattle ranching, heavy equipment operator, CDL drivers, mechanics, financial workers, Social Work, emergency medical technician, nursing assistants (care givers), and firefighting (wildland & structural). All of the personnel have been taught how to work and are ready to tackle most any job. Each fire truck has a chain saw and a sawyer assigned we also have other sawyers in the Kodiak crew. As part of their HAZWOPER course they were trained in; harness use, all are trained to were level B suits, there are many with self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), Some have been trained to were the level A hazmat suit (fully encapsulated suit). Their trainer is certified to train to that level of training. There is many of the group that has restaurant experience, (cooks – waiter – dishwasher). Many have and still own their own business.

Kodiak personnel are ready to go to work as soon as boots hit the ground bags include most of the personnel protective equipment needed for most clean up jobs. Crews are trained to be in a ready status we’ve set a 4 hour timeline to be on the road. Many of us have come from the emergency response world and know the sooner we arrive the sooner we can get to work.

Vehicles
There is 2 type 6 fire engines, 2 10 passenger vans, 2 ¾ ton 4X4 4door pickups, 1 ½ ton 4X4 4 door pickup, 2 ½ ton 4X4 suburban, 2 ATV’s, a pontoon boat, and other resources available.

Experience
Kodiak has been involved in 3 oil spill cleanup jobs. Kodiak personnel have been involved in several construction sight cleanups, area renovations, wildland controlled burns and nature set fires for NIFC, BLM, and Forest Service. Most have animal sense to help bring wild and tame animals under control and moved to safety. Many have hunting skills for a variety of terrains and animal types.

Safety
Kodiak has had a great safety record. For the jobs we’ve performed no major injury has been sustained. All Kodiak personnel are trained to put safety first and foremost.
